
Jamaican newspaper The Gleaner has claimed that Barack Obama is favourite to win today’s election based on the Olympic 100m sprint.
Since 1976, a US men’s 100m champion has been followed by a Republican candidate winning the presidency. A winner born in the Caribbean, however, has precluded a victory for the Democratic candidate.
Although Usain Bolt’s gold does point to an Obama victory, this is obviously a load of cobblers.
What really fires our starting gun is the prospect of the two men actually racing, preferably down the Washington monument.
