The weekend in numbers

Fionnuala Britton continued her awesome cross-country form at the weekend.

10 - The number of centimetres added to Anzhelika Sidorova’s indoor PB, as she took pole vault gold with a 4.50m clearance at the first ever ‘Cup of the Head of the Republic of Chuvashiya’ in the Russian city of Novocheboksarsk. Roll on Moscow!

12 - The winning margin (seconds) for Fionnuala Britton in Saturday’s 5.6km Antrim International Cross Country, her fourth win of an excellent season for the Irish 28-year-old.

100 - The percent of Houston Marathon races won by Ethiopian athletes on Sunday. Merima Mohammed, 20, took the women’s crown in 2:23:37 as Bazu Worku, 22, triumphed in the men’s race. Mamitu Daska and Feyisa Lilesa won the women’s and men’s half marathons respectively, to complete an Ethiopian quadruple.

2400 - The number of metres (or 8000 ft) above sea level of Iten in Kenya, the future home of the eponymously titled Lornah Kiplagat Sports Academy. Kenyan sports minister Ababu Namwamba has just commissioned construction work for the high altitude girls-only facility. It is expected to open in April and will feature a 400m tartan track.

2,527,421 - The number of people that follow Usain Bolt (@usainbolt) on Twitter, more than any other track and field athlete. The league table, collated by @EightLaneNews, puts British heptathlete Jess Ennis (@J_Ennis) in second place, with 1,040,210.
